The last day of the current adventure.
Heading to Burgos which has an enormously long riverside walk – at least 8km if you add in the less formal bits either end.
It’s better than walking along the roads in my view.
Here’s the 4-a-Day picture diary.
Who? SB just after sunrise on the last day. Fully committed to an 18km (might be 20km) stroll into Burgos.
We did meet some people from Switzerland and Australia last night staying in the same Casa Rural as us. The lady from Switzerland was familiar with Llandudno (North Wales) as her company HQ is located there.
We had a good chat about the squeaky stairs in one of the grand hotels on the Llandudno sea front.
It’s bizarre the things you can find to talk about.

What? Still walking.
Up the side of the Atapuerca Mountains – which is notorious for a sharp quartzite rough stone path.
That’s Burgos in the distance.
Looking deceiving easy to get to.
That plume of steam on the left is the Kronospan factory.
The point where the ‘alternative’ Camino walk along the river starts.

Where? The start of the aforementioned walk alongside the river.
All these interesting side routes seem to go past a concrete batching plant.

Why? It’s a bit of a shock to the senses when you arrive in a city after walking through the countryside for a few days.
Why didn’t I remember this and make adjustments?
Especially as it was Friday nights, there was a music festival going on and it felt like Christmas, New Year and August Bank Holiday at home all rolled into one.
EVERYONE (and their dogs) was out on the streets.
So for next time we need to plan around local things for a smoother arrival.
PS the pic is of Burgos Cathedral about 9.30pm on a Friday night.
If you are from Cardiff imagine that scene on Church Street looking at St John’s, on an average Friday night.

Bonus Pic. The people who live alongside the Camino – particularly in rural areas – really do seem to like Peregrinos.
It helps.
